Non-Profit Projects

ACE makes an effort to contribute funds, resources and time to support graduates of our English language teacher training programs to implement targeted English language education projects in small communities in developing countries.

English Language Teacher Training, Aswan, Egypt, 2018:  Building on the work of ACE graduate Shaheen Murji, we delivered the ACE TESOL Certificate to a group of English trainers at the Continuing Education Program, Om Habibeh Foundation.  The work was completed partially online and then partially in the classroom.  ACE President and CEO, Dianne Tyers, ran the course.

English for Teachers, Bolivia, Peru and Colombia, 2014-2017:  We partially funded and provided resources for English for Teachers workshops for K-12 teachers in small communities in Bolivia, Peru and Colombia.  The workshops were developed and delivered by ACE graduate Cathie Aalders-Taylor.

English for Tourism, Colombia, 2015:  We co-developed and partially funded an English for Tourism language program for ecotour guides in a small rural community to help the young people in the community build the tourism sector.  The course was developed specifically for the ecosystem of the area, with vocabulary for the local flora and fauna and geographical features.  The course included practical tasks requiring participants to practice ecotour guiding in English.  The course was developed and delivered by ACE graduate Cathie Aalders-Taylor.

English for Tourism, Rurrenabaque, Bolivia, 2011-2013:  We co-developed and partially funded an English for Tourism language for ecotour guides in a small rural community in Bolivia on the edge of the jungle and the pampas.  The course provided specific vocabulary for the flora and fauna of the area.  Participants were required to complete practical guiding tasks using the language they learned.  The program was taught by groups of experienced volunteer Canadian English language teachers under the guidance of ACE graduate Cathie Aalders-Taylor.

English Language Teacher Training, Kivumu, Rwanda, 2010, 2011, 2013:  We developed, funded and delivered English language teacher training programs for local primary, high school and vocational school teachers in a small rural community, in partnership with the Father Vjeko Center.  The projects were organized and supervised by ACE graduate Jayne Carlielle.

Teaching English for Young Learners, Casa Guatemala, Guatemala, 2011:  We sponsored an ACE graduate  for three months of English language teaching at an orphanage in rural Guatemala.
